Talent Pipeline

Talent Pipeline

A structured progression from student engagement to portfolio leadership.

01

LBS Students & Alumni

Open Community

Access to speaker events, stock pitch competitions, the Asset Management Conference, and networking with industry professionals. This is the broadest level of engagement with IMC.

Any LBS student or alumnus can attend IMC-hosted events, participate in competitions, and connect with the broader investment community. This tier serves as the entry point for future analysts.

02

Junior Analysts

Open Requisition

New analyst cohort inheriting legacy position coverage, conducting research, and participating in biweekly stock pitch meetings with voting rights.

Junior analysts are selected through a competitive application process. They work under senior analyst mentorship, inherit coverage of existing portfolio positions, and develop their research skills through hands-on experience.

03

Senior Analysts

Open Requisition

Experienced analysts initiating coverage, leading research on portfolio holdings, and mentoring junior analysts across equity sectors.

Senior analysts drive the investment process — initiating new coverage, presenting stock pitches, and leading sector expertise. They mentor junior analysts and contribute to the fund's intellectual capital.

04

Management

Open Requisition

Sector heads and the Chief of Staff coordinate research priorities across sectors and support fund operations between the analyst team and Leadership.

Management bridges the analyst team and Leadership — sector heads quality-control research within their coverage areas, while the Chief of Staff coordinates cross-team operations and reporting.

05

Leadership & IC

Co-President, CIO

Responsible for policy making, investor relations, meeting facilitation, quarterly reporting, and oversight of the ~£1.2M fund.

The leadership team manages fund operations, coordinates with the Investment Committee, produces quarterly reports, and ensures smooth governance of the student-managed portfolio.

Roles & Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities

How each member contributes to the fund's investment process and operations.

Biweekly Stock Pitch Meetings

All SIF members gather to evaluate full stock pitches. Ideas receiving 65%+ votes are added to the portfolio; 50%+ go to watchlist for further analysis.

Rigorous Research Process

Analysts produce comprehensive pitches covering business overview, key drivers, valuation (DCF/FCF), risk analysis, and management assessment.

Legacy Holdings & Monitoring

New analysts inherit coverage of existing positions to review and update theses. Any 25% drawdown triggers a mandatory stock review.

Stock Pitch Competition

IMC hosts individual and group stock pitch competitions. Winning pitches are added to the portfolio, ensuring truly actionable ideas.

Analyst Workflow

Analyst Workflow

Each senior analyst is paired with 1–2 junior analysts to cover specific portfolio holdings and sectors. The senior analyst leads research direction while mentoring juniors through the full investment analysis process.

We seek to add approximately 10 new positions per year, representing the analyst cohort's highest conviction ideas. The IR team coordinates quarterly reporting and communicates fund performance to the Investment Committee and LBS stakeholders.
